VP Pence's wife Karen works at anti-LGBTQ school

Karen Pence, Vice President Mike Pence's wife, began a new job this week teaching art at Immanuel Christian School in Springfield, Virginia. According to HuffPost she taught there for 12 years while her husband was in Congress, and they sent their daughter Charlotte there as well. Prospective teachers, and parents of prospective students, must agree to a series of standards set forth by the school that not only includes unapologetic anti-LGBTQ language, but also disturbing bible verses.

Applicants looking to work at Immanuel Christian School must confirm they agree with a series of "standards of behavior" that include:

"I understand that the term “marriage” has only one meaning; the uniting of one man and one woman."

And,

"I will maintain a lifestyle based on biblical standards of moral conduct. Moral misconduct which violates the bona fide occupational qualifications for employees includes, but is not limited to, such behaviors as the following: heterosexual activity outside of marriage (e.g., premarital sex, cohabitation, extramarital sex), homosexual or lesbian sexual activity..."

"...homosexual OR lesbian..." Do they not know what homosexual means?

At the end of each section they site multiple bible verses, apparently, to give biblical context, reasoning. At the end of that section, Section 8, they site Romans 1:24-32, which includes:

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them."

Deserve death? In order to work there, Second Lady Karen Pence had to initial that she agrees with that section.

Parents who send their children to Immanuel Christian School must agree to cooperate with the school, where the Vice President of the United States' wife now works, in a variety of ways, including:

"I understand that the school reserves the right, within its sole discretion, to refuse admission to an applicant or to discontinue enrollment of a student if the atmosphere or conduct within a particular home, the activities of a parent or guardian, or the activities of the student are counter to, or are in opposition to, the biblical lifestyle the school teaches. This includes, but is not limited to contumacious behavior, divisive conduct, and participating in, supporting, or condoning sexual immorality, homosexual activity or bi-sexual activity, promoting such practices, or being unable to support the moral principles of the school."

The bible verses sited for this statement are Romans 1:27 (see above) and "Lev 20:13," or Leviticus 20:13:

"13 If a man lies with a man as with a woman, they have both committed an abomination. They must surely be put to death; their blood is upon them."

Must surely be put to death? This parental agreement is dated 10-29-2018, so I don't know if the Vice President and his wife had a similar agreement when they sent their daughter to the school, but I'm assuming the school's views on homosexuality haven't changed, like, ever. And either way, she still works at a place with those views.

According to the HuffPost, Spokeswoman for the Second Lady Kara Brooks said, "It’s absurd that her decision to teach art to children at a Christian school, and the school’s religious beliefs, are under attack.”

Also, the school's position is that evolution is not real, so, there's that too.
