A 27-year-old Minnesota man was sentenced to three years in prison after he left two children seriously injured following a high-speed chase with police back in June. Police released the shocking dashcam video showing Kabaar Powell driving his Jeep Expedition though Bohanon Park, Minneapolis and striking the children who were playing basketball before coming to a stop after crashing into a swingset. He got out of his vehicle and tried to run, but was apprehended by officers.
Two-year-old Kayden Peltier was completely run over and suffered the most serious injuries. He was nearly paralyzed after suffering a traumatic brain injury and had to stay in the hospital until August. Four-year-old Lillie was partially run over and suffered bleeding in her brain, while her three-year-old brother Konnor suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Powell pleaded guilty to two felonies for fleeing an officer and is expected to spend at least two years behind bars before he will be eligible for parole.
