Trump's reaction to his former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, who has deep Russian ties and was at the June 2016 meeting with the Russian lawyer at Trump Tower, being found guilty of eight counts of tax fraud, bank fraud and failing to file reports of foreign bank and financial accounts was that he feels sad about it, that "he was with Ronald Reagan," that "he's a good man," and it's a "witch hunt," a "disgrace" that "has nothing to do with Russian collusion."
And Trump seems to think it's unfair that Manafort was caught and convicted of doing these illegal activities during what he sees as an unrelated investigation.
"This has nothing to do what they started out, looking for Russians involved in our campaign, there were none. I feel very badly for Paul Manafort. Again, he worked for Bob Dole; he worked Ronald Reagan. He worked for many people. And, uh... This is the way it ends up. And it was not the original mission."

And what the hell does working with Ronald Reagan and Bob Dole have to do with anything...
